| What are embedded fonts? | Visit the fonts | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Font embedding is a method of including fonts in a document in order to be able to render a particular typeface in a computer that does not have the same font installed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| How do you embed fonts? | Visit the fonts | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Microsoft came up with a way to store
fonts on your server so that they can be retrieved and rendered in IE. This
allows the us to be able to display pages using fonts (instead of images) and
it doesn't matter if the surfer has them installed on their computer or not.
Microsoft has a tool called WEFT that is used to convert fonts into EOT
(Embedded Open Type) fonts. The only problem is that browsers such as Firefox
do not read them. Just recently, I came across David Chester's site that enables you to use javascript to render the fonts. While there are some browsers out there that do not support the javascript or the surfer might have javascript turned off, the bulk of your users will be able to see the font rendered in your web page. Because I'm a font junky, I have had fun using David Chester's script and embedding fonts. Feel free to download the javascript files that I have created by clicking on the download link. |

| What are color schemes? | Visit the colors | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Color schemes are a planned combination of color. They can be monocromatic, analogous, complementary, etc. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| How are color schemes used? | Visit the colors | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A color scheme is the choice of colors used
in design. For instance, the use of a white background with black text is an
example of a basic default color scheme in web design. Color schemes are used to create style and appeal. A basic color scheme will use two colors that look good together. I have created lots of color schemes that you are free to use. Be sure to click on the "extended color schemes" to see twenty different color schemes for the color that you selected. Refreshing the page will bring up another color scheme. |
